The summer of 2020 has been full of surprises for most of us, so we are here to answer any questions you may have so you know what to expect on your trip to Fish Creek.
Most importantly, COVID-19 has not kept summer from being glorious in Door County! Warm, sunny days and calm waters are a siren’s song for all outdoor enthusiasts. Peninsula State Park is open for camping, golfing, hiking, biking and boating. All town parks and public restrooms are open, including the newly expanded town beach.
Many businesses are requiring face coverings while indoors, so we recommend bringing your favorite mask and carrying it with you when you leave your car or hotel. Several Door County businesses are also selling cute masks, so don’t rule out a mask-shopping spree while you’re here!
Our hotels, campgrounds, bed and breakfasts and rentals properties are open and welcoming guests, and have extensive safety protocols in place to ensure that your room is your home away from home while you are in Fish Creek. This may mean some modifications in service, such as contactless check-in, no make-up service on multi-day stays, and some amenities may be available upon request rather than in your room.
Almost all restaurants in town are open, many with options for indoor dining, outdoor dining, and carry-out. Some may have modified hours or menus to help them accommodate these additional service options, and many have reduced capacity to allow social distancing, so we recommend calling your favorite restaurant directly when making your plans.
Nothing can stop Fish Creek from being a shopper’s haven! These beautiful days have been perfect for strolling the length of the village, exploring all the unique shops and galleries along Main Street and beyond. COVID-19 has not stopped the cherries from growing either, so the farm stands are bursting with all the cherry products you need, along with wines, cheeses, and other local treats.
The businesses of Fish Creek have worked tirelessly this summer to make changes to promote the safety of the visitors we welcome as well as our employees and their families. We thank you for your patience while visiting us, and we hope you enjoy your time in Fish Creek!
