You would be correct on all accounts! Although our humble community is a beautiful and serene place to get away from all of life’s noise, it also happens to be a fantastic location to immerse yourself in outstanding performances both casual and classy.

1) Peninsula Players Theatre

Few places can combine thrilling entertainment, indulgent architecture, and breathtaking natural landscape the way Peninsula Players does. The “theatre in a garden” opened its first show in 1935, performing in front of a small audience sporting a young cast of enthusiastic actors/actresses.

Today, the Peninsula Players Theatre has grown to put on five terrific shows a year and boasts a variety of amenities, including:

  • An inviting beer garden & canteen
  • Interpretive discussions before/after shows
  • Picnic area with brilliant sunset views

The picturesque atmosphere along the shores of Green Bay is truly magical throughout their performance season, which runs annually from June to October. For those who have never been, you may want to consider making this the year you change that!

You’ll be in a great mood before you even sit down at Northern Sky Theater, where smiling and laughing seems to be infused in the air. This local Door County theater experience offers casual and heartwarming original musical comedies performed at a charming, outdoor amphitheater in Peninsula State Park.

This folksy venue has held refreshing, light-hearted performances since the 1970s when the first show, “Song of the Inland Seas,” opened as a tribute to the heroes of the Upper Midwest.

Today, the live theater setting nestled amongst the pines has become a Door County tradition. Come experience the hilarious entertainment that awaits you under the stars in Fish Creek!

4) Skyway Drive-In Theatre

Skyway Drive-In - Door County Theater

Catch a flick at the ol’ passion pit! Since 1950, movies have lit up the screen each summer at Skyway Drive-In Theatre – making it the longest continually-running Wisconsin attraction of its kind.

Today’s drive-in experience operates in much the same fashion with only certain aspects updated as better audio/visual technology has become available. There’s nothing else quite like it! Simply pull up next to the speaker post, grab your favorite refreshments from the snack bar, and travel back in time.

Whether you are able to relive childhood memories from the 1950s-60s or experience it for the first time, you’ll certainly enjoy your exciting date or family night at the Skyway Drive-In.

5) Birch Creek Music Performance Center

As a summer music academy located southeast of Fish Creek in Egg Harbor, Birch Creek Music Performance Center offers live performances that feature advanced students and internationally recognized faculty musicians.

Founded in 1975 by the Dutton family, Birch Creek’s mission was and continues to be to provide intensive, performance-based instruction to promising young musicians by immersing them in a professional, mentoring environment.

The campus is centered around the 500-seat Dutton Concert Barn, a renovated century-old farm structure with exceptionally fine acoustics, with smaller concerts being held around a centrally-located gazebo on the property.

Elegant performances combined with Birch Creek’s rustic setting can be viewed Wednesdays-Saturdays throughout the summer months as well as the fall for their concert series. Come experience this fun and semi-formal Door County theater!

Concerts are held in a 100-year-old Door County barn, which has been renovated to seat 150 people in the hayloft acoustic area (for solo, duet and trio acts) and 300 at the ground-level big stage.

Both concert areas feature independent state-of-the-art lighting and sound systems, creating a personal setting for performers and audiences alike. Many genres of music are represented to satisfy a variety of tastes, such as:
