Glimmering lights. Shimmering Snow. Cozy and warm from head to toe. It’s the holiday season once again, which means plans are underway to make this year the best ever! For many of us, however, things can get busy pretty darn quick, and it’s easy to become stuck in a rut doing the exact same things year after year to celebrate.

Don’t get us wrong – festive family traditions are wonderful – but sometimes we just need to mix things up. If you find yourself ready for the latter category, we’d like to make a suggestion: redefine your holiday plans in Fish Creek, Door County!

Where to begin: plan your stay for a holiday away

We can’t imagine a more comfortable way to be of good cheer than to spend Christmas, New Year’s, or another major holiday at a relaxing resort, charming cottage, or glamorous guest house with the ones you love.

Fish Creek offers many merry lodging options for groups large or small – whether you’re forming a new family tradition or seeking an intimate celebration for you and your sweetheart.

Regardless of your reasons, a break from the norm can be abundantly enjoyable!

Things to do: shopping, sipping, and festive fun

Of course, no matter how well your family gets along, it’s nice to get out of the house and appreciate a bit of Door County’s winter wonderland.

Although many Fish Creek businesses have closed for the year (not to reopen until spring) – don’t lose hope! There are still many that are open through the holiday season (full list here). Plus, there are several enchanting opportunities to help you greet the season.

Holiday Tree Lighting Ceremony & Caroling

Gibraltar Historical Association presents this magical event on December 8, 2018 at 5:00pm in Noble Square Park, downtown Fish Creek.

Join us in celebrating the holidays with family and friends at the historic Alexander Noble House Museum. A big, beautiful tree will be lit while you sip hot cocoa, enjoy a few cookies, and participate in a chorus of Christmas carols.

A social will follow at Blue Horse Beach Café to keep the holiday spirit alive and well!

Northern Sky Theater’s “Home for the Holidays” Show

Those familiar with Northern Sky Theater are aware that their colorful, comedic performances are some of the best in the country.

Well… a few members of the troupe are back at it as they host an intimate evening session of seasonal songs and delightful holiday humor on December 28-31, 2018 at Old Gibraltar Town Hall.

This year’s show will feature Jeff Herbst and friends, Ryan Cappleman, and Tom Donoghue for uplifting concerts to celebrate all things festive and funny. What could be better for kids from one to 92 to experience together?

Seasonal Shopping & Dining

Let’s not forget there are still many shops and restaurants welcoming guests through the holiday weeks, making Fish Creek the perfect place to beat the crowds and discover a truly unique culinary creation or stocking stuffer.

Redefine your holidays: better together

Redefine Your Holiday Plans in Fish Creek

Okay – you’ve found a cozy place to rest your head and some dreamy displays of holiday cheer. All that’s left is to settle into the true magic of the season – spending quality time with those you hold most dear.

Although presents and bows and ribbons are lovely ways to show that we care, the greatest gift of all is getting away from what’s familiar to share countless special moments with our children, parents, significant others, siblings, and friends.

That is the gift of a holiday redefined.
