It’s officially Fall, so break out the cozy sweaters and football jerseys, and head to Fish Creek in Door County where we celebrate this colorful season with seasonal fun, creative costumes and Halloween trolley tours!
Our hometown Halloween festival, Jack O’ Lantern Days, is the perfect event for visitors of all ages. This year the festival runs from Oct. 25-27 and includes events for everyone. If you’re ready to dress up – we’re hoping to see an Aaron Rodgers and some ghosts – enter our costume contest or walk in our costume parade. We’ll also have town hall games with a bake sale and a craft area where you can make a mask if you didn’t bring your own. And since you’ll be wearing a costume or making one in our craft area – you can participate in our town-wide trick-or-treating!
Fish Boils will be available at White Gull Inn and Pelletier's on Friday, Oct. 25. Gibraltar Fire Station will have an Open House with station tours, food and kid games from 10-2pm on Saturday, and the Open Door Bird Sanctuary will be in Founder’s Square with their ‘Birds of Prey’ exhibit from 10-4pm. You can also visit J. Jeffrey Taylor and take pictures with the costumed mini donkeys. Peninsula School of Art will have free mask making from 9am-noon. Bayside Tavern will have an 'adult' costume party on Saturday evening.
Our Jack O’ Lantern Days is full of surprises and is the perfect Fall event for your family to create memories you won’t soon forget!
Ready for some ghost stories? Door County Trolley has a one-of-a-kind tour for you. The Trolley of the Doomed takes you on a Ghost Tour of Door County where they share tales of ghostly sunken ships, haunted lighthouses and mysterious events on the darker side of the peninsula. Their scary, fun and informational tour runs nightly through Oct. 27, and then runs on Halloween and Nov 2. The tour takes just under two and a half hours. Ticket, pick-up location and information on departure times is available online.
For some more bone chilling fun, step aboard Door County Trolley’s Murder & Mayhem Tour. The tour follows the steps of Door County’s most wanted criminals in the past and present. Your tour guide will tell some shocking stories – like the Canal Shack Killing and infamous Furnace Murder. The two-and-a-half-hour tour runs Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays through October (and Nov. 2).
For all of our visitors over the age of 21, a haunted tavern tour will introduce you to the “spirits” of Door County. The Door County Trolley Haunted Pub Crawl takes you to four establishments where you’ll get to enjoy tales of the haunted pubs and taverns. The tour spends about 30 minutes at each establishment. Tours run on Fridays and Saturdays through October (and Sunday, Oct. 13) with a couple tours in November.
